What they say now

No funding provided in the 2013-14 State Budget

-

27 Aug 2013 - In the lead up to the 2013 state election the Barnett Government made a commitment to fund $18 million for a bridge over the Collie River to link the suburbs of Treendale and Eaton in the States southwest.

The commitment to build the Collie River bridge was made by the Treasurer Troy Buswell who committed $18 million and said the work would commence on the bridge in 2015. The bridge was to open in 2016.

In the 2013-14 State Budget the bridge was not included and no money has been provided to commence the construction in 2015.

UPDATE

In the 15-16 State Budget, money was finally made available to construct the bridge. However work will now commence in 2016 to be completed in 2017, later than was originally promised.
